History
Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida has been treating children for over 50 years. The hospital first opened its doors in 1967 as the first children’s hospital in Central Florida. The hospital was founded by the DuPont Company, whose generous support and vision provided a place of healing and hope to many young patients.
The original Nemours Building, currently located on Lake Lucerne Avenue near downtown Orlando, was dedicated on October 5th, 1967 by then-Governor Claude Kirk Jr. This building would serve as the home of the world-renowned pediatric center until it moved to its current location at Lake Nona in 2012.
