The history of the Orlando Fire Department is long and rich. The department was established in 1885, and has served the residents of Orlando for more than 130 years. The current department includes over 400 firefighters and paramedics, who work at 15 fire stations throughout the city. The Orlando Fire Department is made up of dedicated professionals who are highly trained and committed to protecting lives and property.

The department has been responding to some of the worst disasters in city history for a long time. The department was called to respond in 1992 to the tragic Orlando nightclub fire, which claimed over 100 lives. The department also responded to Hurricane Frances in 2004, which caused extensive damage throughout the city. The department responded in 2016 to the Pulse Nightclub shooting that resulted in one of the most deadly mass shootings in American History.
